TOXDetect Profile

Selected Environmental Chemical Markers in Urine

What is This Test?

TOXDetect measures selected chemicals and metabolites in urine using LC-MS/MS. You can review these measurements with your clinician in the context of collection timing and possible exposures. Detection does not establish poisoning, a symptom's cause, the source of exposure, total body burden, or a need for detoxification treatment. This is not a comprehensive screen for all chemicals or heavy metals.

Confirm the exact panel, eligibility, preparation, and timing in your Fullscript order and current lab instructions. Kit instructions take priority over this general summary. Do not stop prescribed medicines without your clinician's guidance. Laboratory certification does not establish that every proposed clinical use is validated.

Biomarkers Tested

Plastics & Plasticizers

  • Bisphenol A and S
  • Selected phthalate metabolites

Pesticides & Herbicides

  • Selected pesticide metabolites; confirm the ordered panel's current analyte list

Personal Care Chemical Markers

  • Selected parabens
  • Oxybenzone

Volatile Organic Compounds

  • Selected metabolites associated with benzene, xylene, and styrene/ethylbenzene exposure

What Should You Discuss Before Testing?

Exposure Questions

Discuss your exposure history and whether targeted testing would be more useful.

Interpretation Limits

A laboratory reference comparison is not a diagnosis of toxicity or proof of a symptom's cause.

Understanding Your Results

Your results quantify your exposure levels compared to reference ranges and general population data.

What You Can Review:

  • 1Selected urine chemical and metabolite measurements
  • 2Laboratory reference comparisons
  • 3Discussion of possible exposures, not proof of a specific source
  • 4Limits of interpreting a single urine sample
  • 5Questions for your clinician
