GI-MAP + Zonulin Test
Explore Your Gut Health With a Zonulin Marker
What is This Test?
You can review the GI-MAP microbial DNA and digestive markers with an additional stool zonulin measurement. A zonulin result alone does not diagnose intestinal permeability or 'leaky gut,' and microbial DNA detection does not by itself establish an active infection. Discuss the assay's limitations and clinical relevance with your clinician rather than using the result to explain unrelated symptoms.
Confirm the exact panel, eligibility, preparation, and timing in your Fullscript order and current lab instructions. Kit instructions take priority over this general summary. Do not stop prescribed medicines without your clinician's guidance. Laboratory certification does not establish that every proposed clinical use is validated.
Biomarkers Tested

- Pancreatic elastase (digestive function)
- Beta-glucuronidase
- Steatocrit (fat absorption)
What Should You Discuss Before Testing?
Clinical Assessment First
Ask whether the base panel or the added marker would change your care.
Zonulin Limitations
You cannot use a single zonulin result as a diagnosis of leaky gut or a cause of symptoms.
Interpreting Microbes
Review detected organisms with your clinician; their presence does not always mean illness.
Understanding Your Results
Your comprehensive results report includes color-coded markers showing normal, borderline, and out-of-range values for easy interpretation.
What You Can Review:
- 1Executive summary with key findings
- 2Pathogen detection results with clinical significance
- 3Beneficial bacteria levels compared to optimal ranges
- 4Digestive function markers with explanations
- 5Inflammation and immune markers
- 6Stool zonulin result requiring clinical interpretation
- 7Personalized recommendations based on your results
How to Test
At-home stool sample collection
- 1Receive your collection kit in the mail (arrives within 5-8 days)
- 2Follow the simple instructions to collect a small stool sample at home
- 3No special preparation or fasting required
- 4Use the prepaid shipping label to send your sample to the CLIA-certified lab
- 5Results are typically available 14-21 days after completing your test
